Dan Deacon is a sonic storm. Its hard to believe that some this music is created by just one man. This was our top live music pick for Amsterdam next month, until we found out from the venue that he would not have his full band for the Amsterdam gig. However he is a top pick none the less and will be playing with the full band in other venues on the tour. (there are full tour dates at the end of this posting)
Dan Deacon has been producing music for some time but it was not until 2007 that he released his first commercially distributed album “Spiderman of the Rings”, to much critical acclaim. He describes it as “dance music that isn’t really dance music “. We really loved this album and you can listen to some of the tracks from it on “The Jam selecta” player in the sidebar of this page. This year there is a new album called Bromst which was once again hailed by (most) of the critics and is a great follow up. It seems to be less laptop centric than the previous one and equally as infectious.
His live shows are famed for their crowd interaction. For the first time he is touring with a full band, in fact a 14 person ensemble, though only at selected venues. Anyways there’s no need to describe this with words when you can hear and see for yourself.
