I have to admit that I have been mesmerised by the latest Tortoise album, “Beacons of Ancestorship” (their sixth). Its their first release in five years and it goes off like a bomb. At heart an indie outfit the band cross genres with reckless abandon, from Jazz to Rock, Punk to Hip Hop, Dub & electronica with elements of Dubstep.
What’s more astounding is that this remarkable band are playing in the small room in the Melkweg. This gig is my pick of the month for August.
