The Cat Empire are from Melbourne Australia and this year they are bringing a bit of summer sun to Europe. This band has been around for about ten years and have released four albums so far.
Their sound jumps between reggae, ska, jazz, hip hop, pop and funk with some elements cross over into the sound of artists like Manu Chao. These guys have such diverse influences and they will be lots of fun live.
With the exception of a few club festivals at the start of July the summer time in Amsterdam generally is very quiet on the gig front. From mid July to September not many good acts are booked into venues. So for those of you (like myself) who may not be going to any summer festivals this year let the summer festival come to you and go see The Cat Empire.
Support is from another Australian band, Blue King Brown. Many of the UK shows have already sold out so get a ticket while you still can. (for the Amsterdam show its just €15,00 to see both bands)

I don’t know if this is the right place, but I will try anything! I need just one ticket to the show in Amsterdam on July 13th. It’s sold out..is there a fan site or something where I can post a ‘ticket wanted’?

Umm I find myself in the same position as I posted the gig before buying a ticket…. (should remember not to do that…) If I find any tickets I will let you know. Maybe check with the venue as unsold tickets from other outlets sometimes come back. Sometimes you can get some outside the venue if people have extras.
