We covered Deadelus last year when he played in the Smart Project Space. For those of you who missed the gig he’s back again this month to play at Ekko in Utrecht.

The Yohimbe Brothers are DJ Logic and Vernon Reid in collaboration with many guest musicians (including Doug Wimbish (Living Colour), Slick Rick, Prince Paul, Latasha Nevada Diggs, Leon Gruenbaum, Deantoni Parks and Ricky Quinones).

Q-Tip, aka Kaamal the Abstract, began his career as a rapper in A Tribe Called Quest and went solo about ten years ago. Last year when he released “The Renaissance” it was his first actual release in nine years. The sleekly produced album was well received by the critics.

Back in nineties and early part of this century we were treated to lots of great hip hop gigs with Blackalicious featuring the amazingly talented MC Gift of Gab. I’ve been wondering where these guys went to as there’s not been a release from this group since 2005.
